The European Commission has formally presented its proposals to fight against roaming charges within the European Union. One proposal is to impose to operators in other Member States to open their networks to virtual mobile operators (MVNO) at regulated wholesale rates. Transatel welcomes this first step towards increasing competition on the roaming market, but regrets that those advanced solutions are limited to the European Union.

Transatel acts as a European player to lobby the European Commission for greater competition, in order to reduce the cost of mobile roaming though the promotion of the role of MVNOs. The declaration of the European Commission is a clear good step.
