The European Commission continues its fight against roaming and Transatel approves the push for more competition in the roaming markets thanks to MVNOs

The European Commission has formally presented its proposals to fight against roaming charges within the European Union. One proposal is to impose to operators in other Member States to open their networks to virtual mobile operators (MVNO) at regulated wholesale rates. Transatel welcomes this first step towards increasing competition on the roaming market, but regrets that those advanced solutions are limited to the European Union. Transatel is a pan-European MVNO that fights against high roaming rates for the end-users for 10 years. Thanks to innovative technologies and agreements with Mobile operators in France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzerland, Transatel offers an alternative to roaming for cross-border populations and frequent travelers in those countries. Transatel Mobile subscribers benefit from local tariffs for their calls, text messages but also Data connections. Please refer to www.transatel-mobile.com As a French company, Transatel also worries about the high roaming costs while staying in France. Because vacations, business trips, studies or work in France shouldn't be synonym of high phone bills; because staying in touch with its relatives while abroad shouldn't be luxury; Transatel has launched in November 2010 an innovative low cost prepaid offer: LeFrenchMobile. The service is in all English and the SIM card can be ordered online all over the World. LeFrenchMobile offers calling tariffs 50% cheaper than the prepaid services of the 3 main national mobile operators in France (Bouygues Telecom, SFR and Orange) and also very good data rates for foreigners using their iPads in France. Transatel acts as a European player to lobby the European Commission for greater competition, in order to reduce the cost of mobile roaming though the promotion of the role of MVNOs. The declaration of the European Commission is a clear good step. Transatel hopes that the Commission will act to encourage mobile operators across Europe to allow the development of pan European MVNO dedicated to the mobile roamers.  -------------------------------------- + 33 (0) 1 74 95 74 38 - press@transatel.com
